4th of July treats

Super easy 4th of July treats so you can get out of the kitchen and enjoy the fireworks!

We've chosen a few and easy to make treats and drinks for your 4th of July Celebration. They are super simple, fast and fun to make.

Our List & Photos:

1: Rice Krispy treats popsicle treats
Heres' our #1 pick. Rice krispy treats have become a tradition. Follow box instructions in making the treat, form made treats into a rectangle shape, slightly rounding one end, insert popsicle stick on the opposite end. Dip in white chocolate or regular chocolate (you may use melting chocolate) Sprinkle with red, white and blue sprinkles & voila!

2) Our 2nd pick is this flag fruit kabobs.
It is super easy to make. Just skewer strawberries(top cut off), bananas(peel/slice about 1 inch) and blueberries. Follow just like the photo below.

3. Colored popcorn
Just pop in the microwave or you can use a popcorn maker. Divide into three portions. Mix light corn syrup with food coloring (red & blue separately), canola oil. Heat in microwave. Mix popcorn in mixture until the colors are pretty even. That is it. Enjoy!

4. Watermelon Berry Surprise.
Place raspberries in icecube tray(about 3 in each cube) fill with water and freeze. In a blender mix ice & watermelon chunks (make sure not to add too much ice-just enough for it to be cold) Pour in glass, add ice with frozen fruit, fresh blueberries and garnish with sliced oranges.

Enjoy!

Cowboy + Pony Party

Last month my son turned 9 and I really wanted to do something that captured most of the things that he loves and enjoys, so I decided to do a Cowboy/Horse Party.
We lived in Texas for a couple of years and what is more Texas than horses and cowboy hats.
Planning this event was so much fun. For one it was different from the typical parties I usually style and design. Absolutely no pink was used here.
Another element that was key here is that I used a lot of the things that my son already have such as the riding horse and his cowboy hat. I also used my husband's guitar and boots for props. Here's how it turned out.

Highlights from this Event:

*I used my sister's cd rack (for the pony corral) and jewelry stand(to hang favor bags).
*Bamboo utensil tray I have on hand for the pony accessories

*I had a bit of a problem because of the cactus plants that bordered the fence, so I needed to find a small scale table for the limited space. I scoured the garage and found leftover wood and placed it on top of a keyboard stand. The plaid table cloth hid the metal legs.

*small chalkboard stand, mini straw hats and bandana from Michaels. They are super inexpensive.

*I decided to use the narrow side of the backyard to give it a cozy feel. I used the bales of hay that my husband have lying around which he uses for a shooting practice. The utensil holder I made from specialty paper and dressed up the water bottles

*I used a crate as a cake stand, twigs from the backyard for the marshmallow, pie tins for the caramel apples. Mini bales of hay are from Hobby lobby. Silver serving plates from the Dollar store.

*Reused the peanut container for shelled peanuts

*Pillows I have on hand

*The wooden horse sign I have on hand from my son's room

*Inexpensive gears (cowboy hats & bandanas) from Hobby Lobby

*I wanted to have a country market. I have a serving wagon and placed Fruits & chips in baskets.

*Got these adorable stuffed ponies from stuffedsafari.com

*Leftover pallet lying around on the side of the house

*Cute and adorable farm animals from the 99cents store

*Lemons from our lemon tree. Lemonade jug with stand from Homegoods

*My son's stuffed ponies. Step stool used for height

*My DIY banner made from old jeans, bandanas and rice sack. SEE our DIY below(coming soon)

*cake pops from Starbucks and yogurt pretzels from Winco

*Ice bucket repurposed as popcorn bucket I have on hand from Pottery Barn
